On 12th March 2021, Lawson College Australia was invited to Araw ng Davawenyos Dance and Musical Night Event organised by Davawenyos Victoria. This Filipino community event was attended by many community leaders, government officials and the members of the public.

Lawson announces relief package to support students during COVID

In response to the continued COVID-19 pandemic, which continues to impact Lawson College Australia (LCA) students, LCA has today announced it is extending its Student Relief Package.
The extension aims to provide further financial relief for current students in the form of a loyalty reward, an extension to when tuition fees are due, and a five-month freeze on late fees.
Ongoing support for our students
The announced builds on LCA’s [Student Relief Package] announced on 1 May.
“We understand and acknowledge that some of our students might still be facing hardship during these times,” says LCA CEO Vikram Sharma.
“Therefore, taking all factors into consideration, I am very pleased to say that we have created a second relief package which will benefit all students financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
A suite of financial savings
‘Student Relief Package 2’ was unanimously approved by LCA’s Governance and Risk Management Committee (GRMC).
It includes an AU$200 loyalty reward for eligible students to help with tuition fees, a 30-day tuition fee extension for students facing financial hardship and an extension to the previously announced ‘fee freeze’, which no means no late fees will be charged between 1st August 2020 until 30th September 2020.
“LCA acknowledges the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing and rampant in the last few weeks, especially in Victoria where the cases had jumped out of proportion.”
“We applaud all those students who had been diligently managing their study obligations despite all the impediments during this period. We would also like to commend all our students who continue to work in the healthcare and community care sector as frontline staff and those in essential services who are rendering great service to the Australian community. Like all others, we are extremely grateful to you for your commitment and professionalism,” said LCA CEO Vikram Sharma.

Lawson partners with FARESHARE and The SALVOS to help those in need in the community

Lawson College Australia (LCA) strongly believes that the power of giving is one of the most important things to transform your life and the life of others. Which is why this month, we decided to reach and support two charities doing great work to support those in need.
We chose to donate much-needed funds to food charity Fareshare international charity Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army do incredible work to help the homeless and are providing essentials such as food vouchers, clothing and blankets to the most affected members of the Australian community during the pandemic.
On 19th June 2020, LCA donated $10,000 to The Salvos to assist the most effected members of the Australian community during the pandemic, “Your help allows us to provide practical essentials like food vouchers, clothing, blankets and shoes. It also helps us provide emergency accommodation for the homeless and refuge for victims of domestic violence. Please be assured your support translates into the transformation of lives” says Nina Greig-Towers, Relationship Manager Corporate Partnerships, The Salvation Army
Fareshare rescues surplus food that would otherwise go to waste and cooks free, nutritious meals for people in need. They are providing 20,000 cooked meals a week to the hardest hit international students during the pandemic.
LCA also contributed $6,000 to FareShare, “Your donation will directly fund more free, nutritious meals for people who are really struggling to get by. Our meals are distributed to hundreds of frontline charities supporting people in crisis, including international students. With your support we will continue to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most vulnerable people living in Australia,” says Marcus Godinho, FareShare CEO
“We are humbled to have supported the two of the most awesome organisations,” says LCA CEO Vikram Sharma.
“The Salvation Army and FareShare tirelessly and generously provide support to the Australian community. Our partnership and the philanthropic efforts with these wonderful organisations are a testament to our commitment to support the most vulnerable members of our community.”

Lawson announces relief package to support students during COVID

Lawson College Australia (LCA) has today announced a ‘Student Relief Package’ to support its students during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The relief package aims to provide LCA students with stability and reassurance during this period of uncertainty, which is impacting all aspects of our lives, including education and study in Australia.
Financial relief
For students who qualify, the package includes an AU$200 loyalty reward to help with tuition fees, a 30-day tuition fee extension for students facing financial hardship and a three-month ‘fee freeze’, which means no late fees will be charged between 1st April and 30th June.
The Package is in addition to recently announced government initiatives offering financial support to international students. These initiatives include early access to accumulated superannuation and access to the International Student Emergency Relief Fund, established as part of a new $45M government fund announced in April.
“In addition to the Australian Government’s initiatives for international students, we believe it is important to provide our students with further financial support during this crisis,” says LCA CEO Vikram Sharma.
Unanimously approved
The package was unanimously approved by LCA’s Governance and Risk Management Committee (GRMC).
Full details of how students can qualify, including terms and conditions, for each element of the relief package will be shared with students directly.
“We genuinely hope this package will further assist a number of students during this crucial time and we will continue to look for ways to support our students during this unprecedented crisis,” Sharma added.
